After a successful last season of bird counting and cooing, GLC is proud to bring back, by popular demand, the Keweenaw Bird Workshop.
All Birders, from the expert to the beginner, are welcome to sign up for the Birding Workshop. It is limited to 12 slots and it fills up fast. Contact Director@gratiotlakeconservancy.org to reserve your spot today!
The workshop is scheduled during the peak spring migration. The guided tour visits multiple habitat types across the Keweenaw. In the workshop you will gain an understanding of ecology, distribution, and behavior of the Keweenaw’s birds. The instructor, Zach Gayk, has many years of experience studying native birds across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and is currently a PhD student at the University of Windsor. He is focusing on the communication of migratory birds moving through the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Workshop Features :
Guided tour of the best areas to see migrant birds of the Keweenaw Peninsula, with expert instruction on the easiest ways to identify migrating birds by shape and habitat. The instructor will also provide information on the best ways to records your birds sightings and learn about the ecology of these amazing birds.

Cost of the program is $50 for public and $30 for members. Payments are to be made the day of the the workshop upon arrival at the first meeting point. More information will be provided upon reservation of a slot.
